Introducing SOMO, a mobile app designed to empower farmers and rural entrepreneurs in Kenya by simplifying the buying and selling process. This innovative platform connects local farmers with buyers, allowing them to showcase their produce and goods directly to consumers in urban areas. During the UX design process, I conducted extensive user research to understand the unique needs and challenges faced by rural sellers and buyers. This included interviews and surveys with local farmers and potential users, ensuring the app's features were tailored to their preferences. The user-friendly interface makes it easy for users to list products, negotiate prices, and facilitate transactions, all from the palm of their hand. By promoting direct access to markets, Rural Buyers not only helps rural communities thrive economically but also encourages sustainable agricultural practices. Our app is dedicated to fostering a sense of community while driving growth and improving livelihoods in Kenya’s vibrant rural sectors.
